Miami Contemporary Art Museum

Vision

The proposed contemporary art museum for Miami embodies a vision of dynamic fluidity—an architectural statement that echoes the city’s vibrant cultural pulse and coastal landscape. The museum’s swooping white exterior and fluid, multi-level forms capture the spirit of contemporary creativity while responding to Miami’s luminous climate and diverse urban context.

Design Concept
Fluid White Form:
The building’s sculpted white façade draws inspiration from ocean waves and cloud formations, resulting in smooth, continuous surfaces that beckon visitors from afar. This luminous shell not only reflects Miami’s tropical sunlight but also becomes a canvas for shifting light and shadow throughout the day.
Dynamic Multi-Level Structure:
Interior volumes cascade over several levels, connecting open galleries, mezzanines, and terraces via gently sloped ramps and staircases. This vertical organization creates visual permeability between spaces, encouraging discovery and interaction as visitors ascend and descend through the collection.
Inside-Outside Connectivity:
Expansive glazing and strategically placed skylights dissolve boundaries between interior and exterior, inviting Miami’s natural light deep into gallery spaces. Outdoor terraces on multiple levels provide vistas of the city and the bay, turning the museum itself into an urban landmark.
